Looking for a Listen Labs alternative
Listen Labs was acquired by Salesforce in 2026. If that changes the calculation for you — procurement, roadmap, or where your research data ends up — here is an honest account of what they do well and where 8xResearch differs.
What Listen Labs is genuinely good at
It is the largest operation in this category and it shows in reach. If your research depends on finding enough of a particular kind of person anywhere in the world, that is the thing they are best at.
- 1.1
A participant network reported at over 50 million people
- 1.2
Interviews in more than 120 languages
- 1.3
Finished deliverables — reports and slide decks, not just findings
- 1.4
Customers including Microsoft, Sweetgreen and Anthropic
Where 8xResearch is different
The two platforms answer different questions about timing. Listen Labs runs studies you commission; 8xResearch can run studies your product starts.
- 2.1
Interviews triggered by product telemetry, including PostHog, so a study opens at the moment of churn rather than weeks after it
- 2.2
Findings readable from Claude, ChatGPT or an IDE over MCP, with no dashboard to learn
- 2.3
Built around a product team's release cycle rather than a research programme's calendar
- 2.4
Free to start with ten completed interviews a month
When Listen Labs is the better choice
If you need to reach a consumer audience at a scale measured in millions, or you need the research delivered as a finished report for an audience that expects one, their reach and polish are real advantages and we would not claim otherwise. The Salesforce acquisition may also be a reason to choose them rather than avoid them: if your company already runs on Salesforce, research that lands beside your CRM data may be worth more than anything here.
